Profile of courses
The University of Cumbria is home to degree courses in both Graphic Design and Illustration amongst its extensive portfolio of courses in education, healthcare, sports, visual and performing arts, humanities, social science, law and criminology, science, outdoors, forestry and land studies.

The BA(Hons) Graphic Design and Illustration courses are housed in a huge, dynamic, well equipped, modern, multi-functioning space in which all years of the courses happily mix, share ideas and inspire one another. It contains over eighty Mac workstations, small tutorial and lecture spaces, staff offices, and lots of space for student work bases.

There are approximately 50 students in each year group of the degree courses, with another 20 in the Year Zero group. This specialist, preparatory year provides the necessary underpinning practical, technical and theoretical skills to students who are not yet ready for entry to the degree. Successful completion of ‘Year 0’ gives automatic progression to Year 1 of the BA(Hons) Graphic Design or Illustration course.
